A 30% Chance of Failure

Statistically a keeper has a 20-30% chance of blocking a penalty kick.
Max blocked TWO in the shoot off our game ended in today and our team took the win.
Blocked two after the first went in and it would be so easy to lose your composure.
With all eyes on him.
The first time he’s ever had to take PK’s in a shootout.
Extreme pressure.
I’m so in awe - not that he blocked the shots though that’s pretty incredible- but that he kept his composure.
Not because he wasn’t nervous - every mom knows their kid’s body language and I could tell the way he held his shoulders he was nervous - but for taking the shots despite the fear, the pressure, the high probability of missing.
I almost said of failure - but you never fail if you take the shot do you.
If my 12 year old can stand on a field in the face of a 70% statistical chance of failure and take the shots anyways - so can I. And so can you.
